MANUFACTURING FIRST
We make production decisions early, while they are still cheap to change, not once a component reaches the factory floor.
We design things to be built. Products, components and modular systems are developed alongside how they will be manufactured, transported and assembled, not after.
Based in Kuala Lumpur and working with clients across Asia and North America, we work alongside manufacturers, fabricators and registered project professionals. Together we turn early ideas into designs that are ready for production.

Every part is considered for how it is made, shipped and put together, from kit-of-parts thinking to final assembly.
Drawings, models and visuals that make design intent easy for clients, manufacturers and project teams to understand.

Haus of Techniques is led by JJ Tan, a designer based in Greater Kuala Lumpur. Since 2019, JJ has worked on design and project management across residential, hospitality and technically driven projects in North America and Asia. One of these is a cross-laminated timber (CLT) panel house in the Catskills, New York.
JJ started the studio to close the gap between design intent and how things are actually made, with a practice built on close collaboration with the people who fabricate and assemble the work.
